This event is sponsored by the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville and by the Princeville Public Library. Donations of books in good condition are always appreciated and may be brought to the Library desk whenever the Library is open.
Calling all Schools and non-profit facilities – Books Available FREE! Right after each quarterly sale, we remove over a thousand books, DVDs and CDs from our shelves to make room for new arrivals. These items are available free to Kauai’s public and public charter schools (or school volunteers), public libraries and non-profit organizations such as care facilities, thrift stores, correctional facilities, food banks, etc.

Would you like to honor a friend or the memory of someone?
Donate $25 or more to Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville, and your gift will be used to purchase a book or books for the Princeville Public Library’s permanent collection. The subject area is your choice. Suggested donations include children’s books and books on art, music, recreation, business, science, technology, Hawai’i and the Pacific.
An original bookplate designed by local artist Anne Palmer Schneider will beautifully display your name and the person you wish to honor to all future readers.

The Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville raise funds to support the Princeville Public Library.
These funds greatly enhance the library’s collections and services. In light of continuous budget cuts to the Hawaii State Public Library System–including the elimination of the library’s materials budget– the Friends have helped the library continue to buy a variety of new print books, audio books, and DVDs**.
Here are other ways that funds raised by the Friends have contributed to the library recently:
Support children’s programs: The Friends support the children’s Story Time, Play Time, and Lego Club program by covering the cost of craft supplies, Lego building plates, and games. They have also contributed toward extra incentives and prizes for the children’s summer reading program.
Equipment and furniture: With Friends’ funds, the librarian was able to purchase headphones for the public computers; browsing baskets, and a key cabinet for the Branch Manager’s office. The Friends also purchased and installed a new notice display case and benches for the outside of the library.
Magazine subscriptions: Friends’ funds give the librarian flexibility to try new subscriptions in addition to the library’s core subscriptions that reflect the community’s interests.
**Please check the DVD bins in the library to see what movies are currently available for checkout on any given day. If you are curious about whether the library has a particular title then you may go to the Online Catalog and perform a search. DVD categories include: Action & Adventure; Animation; Children & Family; Classics; Comedy; Cooking; Documentary; Drama; Faith & Spirituality; Foreign; Hawaii; Hobbies; Horror; Music; Musicals; Romance; Sci-Fi & Fantasy; Special Interests; Sports & Fitness; Television; and Thrillers.
The Art on the Walls program of the Northshore Library at Princeville is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the artistic talent of our local keiki, as well as local artists.
The Friends of the Library organizes with local schools to feature the art work of students coordinated in class under the direction of their teachers and administration. The art work is prominently featured in the library.
The Art on the Walls program encourages the arts while improving the community relationship between the children, their families and friends, and our library. Visit our library to see the young artistic talent on display.
